Dollar Per Child Campaign

The HSAH goal is to raise $1 for every child enrolled in Head Start. The Dollar per Child campaign specifically supports advocacy activities in conjunction with NHSA. Funds help maintain high media visibility about Head Start issues, hold trainings on current Head Start legal issues, and impact public policy and legislation.

Voter Education

NHSA offers the Voter Participation and Lobbying Laws for Head Start is a 28-page guide designed to help the Head Start community with political involvement. The guide illustrates do’s and don’ts for Head Start communities actively involved in the political process. It references the Hatch Act, which is legislation that determines the level of political activities allowable by law.

Follow Congressional Hearings on Early Childhood

The House Education and Labor Committee has begun to hold hearings on early childhood issues in the 111th Congress. Over the coming months, the Committee will likely consider President Obama’s idea of state early learning challenge grants, among other important topics.
